Inauguration history

To get our history going on inauguration, I read the book "If the walls could talk" about presidents. I suggested as I was reading it that the boys make a white house out of legos. Well, little did mom know that we didn't have enough white, so they improvised with some red and blue to go with it. The book was awsome. I highly suggest it. We stayed up and watched the history channel about presidents starting from the beginning of presidency. very nicely done. You can also buy the dvd's if you like. Then we watched a special on Air Force One. That was incredible as well. Then after that we watch a sneak peak into the white house, behind closed doors where you can't get into. I thought that was neat, so when we do go there some of the map work is laid out for us. and we were able to see some of the rooms in our own living room. I stayed up to plan some basket teasers for the morning. I have a few activities to do and we are going to try to watch history in the making.(if I remember what time it comes on alaska time) I think this is good for the kids to witness. This may have not been the choice in this part of the world, but it is still history in the making and important to teach the kiddos.

What a perfect history unit! My kids are really intrigued about what is happening with the presidency too!
